How To: Setup Packaging Waste

You can store the packaging waste per stock item in the [ Stock | Detail | Properties ] tab along with the weight. Examples of packaging are:

  • Cardboard/Paper
  • Recycled Plastic
  • Non-Recycled Plastic
  • Fabric

The weight is entered up to 2 dp. These are stored in grammes and then used to be exported from Khaos Control so that wastage and packaging reporting can be submitted to the government. For more information please see Packaging Producer Responsibilities.

There are two steps to setting up packaging waste, the first is to define the different packaging in [ System Data | Packaging Waste ], then these can be used when adding the packaging to stock items.

Setting up Packaging Items in System Data

  1. Open a System Data screen (show me how).
  2. Open [ Stock | Packaging Waste ]
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right to add a new item.
  5. Enter the description of the packaging waste.
  6. Repeat as required.
  7. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save your changes.

Updating Stock Items with Packaging Waste

  1. Open a Stock screen (show me how).
  2. Open the stock item you wish to define the packaging waste against.
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. In the Packaging Waste area of the [ Properties ] tab:
    1. Click on the the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right .
    2. In the Description F4 and select the type of waste.
    3. In the Weight column enter the weight in grammes up to 2dp.
    4. Repeat as required.
  5. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.
