How To: Create and Use Budgets for Stock Items

Budgets are used to monitor the selling performance of Stock Types or stock items against a set of predefined budgetary figures.

  1. Open a Stock screen (show me how).
  2. Go to the [ Stock | Budget ] tab.
  3. Make sure that the Budget on Stock Item radio button is selected.
  4. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  5. Click on the the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right button (located to the top left of the grid) to add a new item.
  6. Add the stock items you wish to monitor.
  7. For each stock item that you added to the grid enter the following information:
    • Date From: date in the future to budget from.
    • Date To: date in the future to budget to.
    • Budget Qty: amount of stock you intend to sell in the date range you have specified.
    • Budget Val Unit: the unit amount you intend to spend on purchasing the stock.
  8. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Use the BtnSKRecalculate.jpg button to update the actual sale figures for the stock items and date ranges specified. This will display the difference between the budget and the actual.

This process can be repeated for as many items as the user would like to budget for.
