How To: Create and Use Budgets for Stock Types

Budgets are used to monitor the selling performance of Stock Types or stock items against a set of predefined budgetary figures.

  1. Open a Stock screen (show me how).
  2. Go to the [ Stock | Budget ] tab.
  3. Click on the Budget on Stock Type radio button
  4. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  5. Click on the the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right button (located to the top left of the grid) to add a new line.
  6. Click in the Stock Type Columns and Press the F4 button.
  7. Select the Stock Type that you wish to monitor from the list.
  8. For each Stock Type that you added to the grid, enter the following information:
    • Date From: date in the future to budget from.
    • Date To: date in the future to budget to.
    • Budget Qty: amount of stock you intend to sell.
    • Budget Val Unit: the unit amount you intend to sell the stock for.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Use the BtnSKRecalculate.jpg button to display the actual sale figures for the Stock Types and date ranges specified. This will display the difference between the budget and the actual.
