How To: Process a Journal Template Schedule List

Journal entries can either be processed on their due date or they can be forced to process early.

Journal Due For Processing

  1. Open a Journal Templates screen (show me how).
  2. Go to the [ Journal Templates | List | Process List ] tab.
  3. The journal entries that are due to be processed have a red background.
  4. Click on the Process journal template button button.
  5. The journal entry in red will be processed. The itv Index will increase by one and the date in the Process column will be the date the journal needs to be processed next.
  6. For each journal entry that has been processed, the entry the [ Journal Templates | Detail | Schedule ] tab will be displayed with a yellow background, a status of APPLIED and a journal ID in the Journal ID column.

Forcing Journals To Be Processed Early

Forcing journals to be processed before their due date is useful when the business is closed for holidays or the end of the month falls over a weekend.

  1. Open a Journal Templates screen (show me how).
  2. Go to the [ Journal Templates | List | Process List ] tab.
  3. Select the journal template you wish to process early.
    Note: you can only force journal templates to process early one at a time.
  4. Check the Force Item checkbox.
  5. Click on the Process journal template button button.
  6. In the Confirm popup the options are:
    • Yes to select a different process date. This will display the Process Date popup so the user can select a different date.
    • No to accept the current date.
  7. Click on Yes in the Force process current item popup.
  8. The itv Index will increase by one and the date in the Process column will be the date the journal is due to be processed next.
  9. The journal entry that has been processed will be displayed in the [ Journal Templates | Detail | Schedule ] tab with a yellow background, a status of APPLIED and a journal ID in the Journal ID column.
