How To: Quickly Add Nominal Accounts when Journaling

Nominal accounts can be added quickly into the Journalling grid as follows:

  1. Open the [ Accounts | Nominal Accounts | Nominal Accounts ] screen.
  2. Right-click on the Journals grid at the bottom of the screen and select Journal Quick Entry from the context menu options.
  3. Enter the nominal account number.
  4. Either press Enter or Tab or the use directional arrow -> to move to the Credit or Debit cell.
  5. Enter the Credit or Debit amount.
  6. At the end of the line press Enter to add a new line and add the information.
  7. Repeat to add more entries as required.
  8. Click 'OK' Alt+O to populate the journal grid at the bottom of the [ Accounts | Nominal Accounts | Nominal Accounts ] screen with the values entered.
  9. Define and / or check the additional values for the Journal (i.e. Date, Currency, Nominal Classification etc) and click the adjacent the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to post the journal.

Note: when a nominal account code is not recognised or is invalid, the cell will be coloured red and the line will not be passed through to the journal grid when the user selects 'OK'.

Quick Journal Entry Dialog Shortcut Keys

  • F3: adds a new line to the journal.
  • Ctrl+Del: deletes the line that the user is currently focused on.
  • Alt+O: button and adds the values to the journal grid like clicking on 'OK'.
