How To: Stop the stock buy price field from changing

Although Khaos Control offers the option of automatically updating your Stock Buy Price field whenever you place new purchase orders or post purchase invoices, you may prefer not to use this functionality. Instead you may wish to update the Stock Buy Price manually. This might be the case if, for example, you have negotiated fixed prices with your suppliers to apply over a set time period.

If this is the case, then you should turn OFF the following four System Values options:

  1. Update stock buy price when saving purchase order: updates the stock buy price whenever a purchase order is saved.
  2. Update supplier buy price when saving purchase order: updates the supplier stock buy price whenever a purchase order is saved.
  3. Update stock buy price when saving purchase invoice: updates the stock buy price whenever a purchase invoice is saved.
  4. Update supplier buy price when saving purchase invoice: updates the supplier stock buy price whenever a purchase invoice is saved.

To stop the stock buy price from updating:

  1. Go to [ System Values | Purchasing | General and Pricing | Prices ].
  2. Untick the checkboxes against these four values:
    1. Update stock buy price when saving purchase order
    2. Update supplier buy price when saving purchase order
    3. Update stock buy price when saving purchase invoice
    4. Update supplier buy price when saving purchase invoice
  3. Press "OK" to close the dialog and save the changes you have made.
  4. Click Yes to the Information popup stating that you will need to restart Khaos Control.
  5. These changes will come into effect for each user when they next log into Khaos Control.

You should also reset the Buy Price in the [ Stock | Detail | Suppliers ] tab to zero. A sample data query that lists all stock items having non-zero values in the stock_supplier.purchase_cost field is available for use by advanced users.
