Packing scan assumes full qty

When using the Pack Boxes dialog, the user can choose whether a single amount or the full amount is packed when a stock item is scanned, or a barcode is entered. An option in [ System Operations | Edit System Values | Stock | Warehousing ] controls this option:

  • : When using the Pack Boxes dialog, the user can choose whether a single amount or the full amount is packed when a stock item is scanned, or a barcode is entered. The quantity scanned items in the packing dialog will pack the full item quantity when the qty field is blank or set to 0.
  • : The quantity box will be set to 1 and this is the quantity of the item that will be moved to be packed. If set to 0 nothing will happen.

Usage when Packing scan assumes full qty ticked

  1. Open the the Pack Boxes dialog in the Packing Stage in the Sales Invoice Manager.
  2. Select a box in the 'Boxes' grid to pack the items in.
  3. Initially the Qty box will be empty:
    • If items are scanned, the total quantity of the Stock item line in 'Invoice items will be marked as packed and move over to the right.
    • If Qty is 0 and items are scanned, the total quantity of the Stock item line in 'Invoice items' will be marked as packed and move over to the right.
    • If the arrow button is used and the Qty box is empty, 1 item will be marked as packed and move to the right grid.
    • The user can also input a specific quantity in the Qty box (if it's higher than the total quantity of a stock item, the total quantity will be marked as packed and move to the right grid).

Usage when Packing scan assumes full qty unticked

  1. Open the the Pack Boxes dialog in the Packing Stage in the Sales Invoice Manager.
  2. Select a box in the 'Boxes' grid to pack the items in.
  3. Initially the Qty box will be set to 1.
  4. The user can either scan and pack 1 item each time or enter the quantity they wish to scan.
    Note: An error message will appear if the Qty box is set to 0. If Packing Scan Assumes full qty box is unticked, Qty should have a value that is higher than 0.

Use with Barcodes

Barcode functionality enabled, the system behaves as follows:

  1. Open the the Pack Boxes dialog in the Packing Stage in the Sales Invoice Manager.
  2. Select a box in the 'Boxes' grid to pack the items in.

1. The Qty box will initially be empty 2. Entering a barcode will move over the total quantity of the corresponding stock item 3. If Qty box is set to 0, and a barcode is entered, the total quantity of the corresponding stock item will be marked as packed and move to the right grid 4. If the arrow button is used and the Qty box is empty, 1 item will be marked as packed and move to the right grid. 5. If the user enters a qty that is higher than the qty of an item on the sales order, an error message will appear

Usage when Packing scan assumes full qty unticked

  1. Open the the Pack Boxes dialog in the Packing Stage in the Sales Invoice Manager.
  2. Select a box in the 'Boxes' grid to pack the items in.
  3. Initially the Qty box will be set to 1.
    • The user can enter the barcode and pack 1 item each time or enter the quantity they wish to pack
    • When the Qty box is set to 0, nothing will happen.
