System Data Post Code Regions

Postcode Regions

Post Code regions can be set up enabling the user to report on sales by geographical location in Sales Summary using the 'Regions (Post Codes)' filter. If reported on in the [ Sales Summary | Customers ] screen the results can be sent to the List Manager and used to target mailings at specific areas of the country.

Notes:

  1. Postcode Regions uses an algorithm for matching and cannot support 2 digit number ranges, this means that it uses a very simple/basic matching method and expects to only encounter UK postcodes. The following examples work:
    • NG
Everything NG this is probably the most common format and was the original design concept for PostCode Regions in Sales Summary.
    • NG[0-9]%
Everything NG -- this is probably the second most common format.
    • NG3
      Only NG3
    • NG3%
      NG3 and NG31
    • NG3[0-9]
      NG30 through to NG39
  2. Regions are only used for filtering in Sales Summary and not used for the Courier sections of System Data.

Post Code Regions Grid

  • Region: the region containing one or groups of postcodes used for sales analysis and marketing, for example Birmingham, Coventry, Newcastle.
  • Post Codes: the postcodes associated with the region, for example L[0-9], NE; where NE is Newcastle (i.e. postcodes that start NE) and L[0-9] is Liverpool. Liverpool (and other single letter postcodes) need to be formatted in this way otherwise the system will pick up all postcodes starting with L, which would include Leicester, Leeds, etc, see Setting up Postcodes.
Note: each postcode prefix is separated with a comma.

Post Code Regions Context Menu

  • Apply Value Range: allows the user to specify a value that is to be applied to all of the currently selected rows/items for the current column.
  • Clear Selection: deselects the currently selected line(s).
