How To: Create New Labels Based on the Customer Default Label

Customer label templates allow you to define a label layout that can be used when printing customer address labels. Once a default customer label template has been created, Khaos Control can use it automatically without prompting the user to select a layout each time labels are printed.

You can also create multiple label templates and allow users to choose which layout to use when printing.

Before You Begin

Note
If you want users to be prompted to choose from multiple customer label layouts when printing labels, you must rename the existing CUSTOMER LABELS template. If the standard template retains this name, it will be used automatically.

Create a Customer Label Template

Open the Label Setup screen (show me how).
On the [ Label Setup | List ] tab, select Go to display the available templates.
Note
To allow users to select from multiple customer label layouts, rename the existing CUSTOMER LABELS template before creating additional templates.
Press Ctrl + N or click New to create a new label template.
On the [ Label Setup | Detail ] tab, enter a meaningful description in the Description field. This description will be displayed when users select a label template for printing.
Select the Customer Label button to load the standard customer label settings.

Default Customer Label Settings

Selecting Default Customer Label Values applies the following default values:

Row Inc	33
Columns	3
Rows	8
Font	Arial, Size 10
Label Content	Customer name and address

Adjust any of the settings as required. For example, you can:
- Change the font and font size.
- Add an image or logo.
- Modify the label layout to suit a different label stock.

Press Ctrl + S or click Save to store the new label template.

Additional Information

Label descriptions should clearly identify the label type to make selection easier for users.
Test print a small batch of labels before carrying out a larger print run.
If labels are not aligning correctly, review the margin, row and column settings against the manufacturer's label specifications.
Multiple customer label templates can be created to support different label sizes and formats.
