How To: Create a discount or delivery band charge

1. Introduction

   You can use discount and delivery charge bands to automatically apply discounts, reduced delivery charges, or free delivery when a promotion keycode is used.

   This allows you to create promotions based on order value and control how discounts and delivery charges are calculated.

   Steps

   1. Open the Promotion screen. If you're unsure how, see How To: Open a Promotion screen.
   2. Locate and load the required Keycode that the discount or delivery charge band will apply to.
   3. Press Alt + E or click Edit to enter edit mode.
   4. Tick the Discounts & Delivery Charges grid checkbox.
   5. Press F3 or click New to add a new band.
   6. Enter the required values for the discount or delivery band.

   Order Value

   Use these fields to define the order value range that the band applies to.

   • Low: Enter the minimum order value.
   • High: Enter the maximum order value.

   Only orders with values within this range will qualify for the discount or delivery settings.

   Order Discounts

   Use these fields to apply a discount to the order.

   • Discount %: Applies a percentage discount to the entire order.
   • Discount Amount: Applies a fixed monetary discount to the entire order.
   • Amt Disc Enabled: Tick this checkbox to activate the value entered in Discount Amount.

   Note: If a fixed discount amount is enabled, it overrides any existing discounts. The Discount Additive setting will not apply.

   Delivery Charges

   Use these fields to control delivery charges.

   • Net Amount: Sets a fixed delivery charge for the order.
   • Order Value %: Calculates the delivery charge as a percentage of the total order value, including VAT.
   • Active: Tick this checkbox to apply the delivery settings entered in the band.

   If Active is not selected, any delivery values entered in this screen will be ignored.

   Delivery Charge Examples

   You can use delivery settings on their own or alongside order discounts, for example:

   • Free delivery only.
   • Reduced delivery charges only.
   • Free delivery and a 10% order discount.

   Important: Free or reduced-price delivery is not supported when the Discount Code option is selected, such as when creating alias keycodes.

   1. Press Ctrl + S or click Save to save your changes.

   Additional Information

   Discount Additive Setting

   When creating discount bands, decide whether discounts should be cumulative using the Discount Additive checkbox on the right-hand side of the screen.

   • Selected: The promotion discount can be added to existing discounts.
   • Not selected: The promotion discount is applied independently according to your promotion settings.

   Choose the option that best matches how you want your promotion to behave.
