How To: Apply Up and Cross Sell settings to items in the Level 2 Stock Type
Table Of Contents
Introduction
If multiple stock items within the same Level 2 Stock Type require identical Up Sell or Cross Sell settings, you can configure the settings on one stock item and apply them across the entire stock type.
This is particularly useful when promoting a common accessory, information leaflet, warranty product or related item whenever products from a specific stock category are added to a Sales Order.
Important: This process replaces any existing Up Sell and Cross Sell configuration on all stock items within the selected Level 2 Stock Type.
Before You Start
Before applying Up/Cross Sell settings to a stock type:
- Identify the stock item that will trigger the Up Sell or Cross Sell recommendation.
- Identify the item or items that will be offered as the Up Sell or Cross Sell.
- Ensure the Up/Cross Sell configuration is fully tested before applying it across multiple stock records.
Apply Up/Cross Sell Settings to a Stock Type
- Open a Stock screen.
- Find and load the stock item that will trigger the Up Sell or Cross Sell prompt.
- Open the Detail | Up/Cross Sell tab.
- Press Alt + E or select Edit to enter edit mode.
- Press F3 or select Add to add a new item.
- Find and load the stock items you want to offer as Up Sell or Cross Sell products.
- Configure the required settings in the Auto Price columns. These settings will be copied to all stock items within the selected Level 2 Stock Type.
- Press Ctrl + S or select Save.
- Right-click within the grid and select Apply to Stock Type.
- Select the required Level 2 Stock Type and click OK.
- When prompted with the warning:"This will DELETE the existing up sell / cross sell configuration against items in the stock type selected. Continue?"Select Yes to continue.
- When prompted with the confirmation:"This operation is irreversible. 'X' stock items will be affected. Are you sure?"Select Yes to proceed.
- Once the process is complete, a confirmation message will display the number of stock items updated. Select OK to close the message.
What Happens When Applied?
When the configuration is applied:
- Every stock item within the selected Level 2 Stock Type receives the same Up Sell and Cross Sell configuration as the source stock item.
- The selected Up/Cross Sell item is automatically linked to all stock items within the stock type.
- Existing Up Sell and Cross Sell relationships are removed and replaced.
Important Notes
Warning: This process cannot be undone.
- Any existing Up Sell or Cross Sell configuration on stock items within the selected Level 2 Stock Type will be deleted.
- The current stock item's configuration becomes the new configuration for all affected stock records.
- All stock items within the selected Level 2 Stock Type will be listed in the lower grid of the promoted item's Detail | Up/Cross Sell tab.
- The promoted item will appear in the upper grid of every stock item within the selected Level 2 Stock Type.
Example
A company sells a range of products that all require the same instruction leaflet.
Rather than manually adding the leaflet as a Cross Sell item to every stock record, the leaflet can be configured once and then applied to the entire Level 2 Stock Type. This ensures consistency and significantly reduces maintenance time.
Best Practice
- Test the Up/Cross Sell configuration on a small number of stock items before applying it across a stock type.
- Review existing configurations before proceeding, as they will be overwritten.
- Use this feature when the same recommendation should appear for every product within a category.
- Consider exporting or documenting existing configurations before making bulk changes.
