How To: Configure a Dashboard

KPI Dashboards allow you to bring together key business information in a single view. You can customise dashboards to display the metrics most relevant to your role, helping you monitor performance and track important business activity.
This article explains how to create, manage and configure KPI Dashboards in Khaos Control.
Configure a Dashboard
- Select Dash from the Khaos Control menu bar.
- Select Configure Dash.
- Choose one of the following:
- To edit an existing dashboard, highlight it in the upper grid.
- To create a new dashboard, click the New Item button.
- To remove a dashboard, highlight it and click the Delete Item button.
NoteDeleting a dashboard removes the dashboard configuration. Ensure it is no longer required before deleting it. - If required, assign the dashboard to a specific user profile using the Profile column.
- Select the relevant cell in the Profile column.
- Press F4 to open the lookup.
- Choose the required profile.
Users assigned to that profile will be able to access the dashboard. - Select the dashboard you want to configure.
- In the Available Items panel, select the Group containing the dashboard items you want to display.
- In the Name grid below the Group grid, locate the required data items.
- Drag and drop the items from the Available Items panel into the Visible Items area.Use the grid lines to help position dashboard elements and create the layout you require.
- If you want to display items from additional groups, repeat steps 6 to 8 until your dashboard contains all the required information.
- To delete a group, select it and click the Delete Item button above the Group grid.
- To remove an item from the dashboard, drag it from the Visible Items area back into the Available Items panel.
Tips for Building Effective Dashboards
- Group similar information together to improve readability.
- Place the most important KPIs in prominent positions.
- Use clear group names when creating dashboard data.
- Avoid overcrowding the dashboard with too many widgets.
- Regularly review dashboard layouts to ensure they remain relevant to your business needs.
Managing Dashboard Access
Dashboard access can be controlled using user profiles.
By assigning a dashboard to a profile, you can ensure that users only see dashboards that are relevant to their role.

Troubleshooting
I cannot see the dashboard items I want to add
Check that:
- The required dashboard data has already been created using the Add to Dash function.
- The data belongs to the selected group.
- Appropriate filters were applied when the dashboard data was originally created.
Users cannot see a dashboard
Verify that:
- The dashboard has been assigned to the correct profile.
- Users are assigned to that profile.
- The dashboard configuration has been saved correctly.
My dashboard layout does not look right
Items can be repositioned at any time by dragging them to a new location within the Visible Items area. Use the grid layout to organise information into a clear and easy-to-read format.
