How To: Move Warehouse Stock
The Perform Location Movement functionality is used to create and process stock movements. The user can create a non-group movement when they have noticed something was in the wrong place and updating the system retrospectively or a large group movement to replenish forward pick locations.
The functionality is also used to process system created group movements which can be created from Supplier Deliveries or Customer Returns.
Non-Group Movements
- Open a Warehouse screen .
- Click on the button to open the Location Move dialog.
- Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved from using the 'Warehouse From' dropdown box in the upper grid.
- Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish to move.
- Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved to using the 'Warehouse To' dropdown box in the lower grid.
- Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish the stock item to be moved to.
- Press F4 or focus in the Quantity box in the bottom left hand corner.
- Enter the quantity to move.
- Untick the Add to Group checkbox.
- Press F8 or click the button. This will instantly move the stock.
Group Movements
Creating Groups
- Open a Warehouse screen .
- Click on the button to open the Location Move dialog.
- Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved from using the 'Warehouse From' dropdown box in the upper grid.
- Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish to move it from.
- Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved to using the 'Warehouse To' dropdown box in the lower grid.
- Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish to move it to.
- Press F4 or focus in the Quantity box in the bottom left hand corner.
- Enter the quantity of the stock item to add to the group.
- Press F8 or click the button.
- If this is a new group, click on Yes in the popup.
- Repeat selecting the stock to move and where to move it as required until all items that need to be moved have been added to the group.
Notes:- Items can be moved between different warehouses.
- Stock items can't be moved into a single stock location if they are not associated with that location.
- Enter a name for the group in the 'Description' field. e.g. 'Replen Primary Pick 01 01 2011'.
- Click Ok to save and exit the group, unless you wish to process it immediately, see step below.
Processing Groups
- Open a Warehouse screen .
- Click on the button to open the Location Move dialog.
- Click on the button to display a list of all Group Movements.
- Find the group that requires processing, focus on it and click Ok.
- Check the batch.
- Click the button to complete stock movements.
- Click on Yes to process the group now.
- Click OK in the Information popup which contains the Group ID. The group will be processed and a date entered in the Processed field at the top.
