How To: Move Warehouse Stock


Warehouse Location Control is not enabled by default.
Training must be completed before using the warehouse functionality.

The Perform Location Movement functionality is used to create and process stock movements. The user can create a non-group movement when they have noticed something was in the wrong place and updating the system retrospectively or a large group movement to replenish forward pick locations.

The functionality is also used to process system created group movements which can be created from Supplier Deliveries or Customer Returns.

Non-Group Movements

  1. Open a Warehouse screen (show me how).
  2. Click on the Perform Location Movements button in the Warehouse List screen. button to open the Location Move dialog.
  3. Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved from using the 'Warehouse From' dropdown box in the upper grid.
  4. Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish to move.
  5. Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved to using the 'Warehouse To' dropdown box in the lower grid.
  6. Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish the stock item to be moved to.
  7. Press F4 or focus in the Quantity box in the bottom left hand corner.
  8. Enter the quantity to move.
  9. Untick the Add to Group checkbox.
  10. Press F8 or click the move stock button button. This will instantly move the stock.

Group Movements

Creating Groups

  1. Open a Warehouse screen (show me how).
  2. Click on the Perform Location Movements button in the Warehouse List screen. button to open the Location Move dialog.
  3. Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved from using the 'Warehouse From' dropdown box in the upper grid.
  4. Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish to move it from.
  5. Select the warehouse where the stock will be moved to using the 'Warehouse To' dropdown box in the lower grid.
  6. Focus on Stock Item at the Location you wish to move it to.
  7. Press F4 or focus in the Quantity box in the bottom left hand corner.
  8. Enter the quantity of the stock item to add to the group.
  9. Press F8 or click the move stock button button.
  10. If this is a new group, click on Yes in the popup.
  11. Repeat selecting the stock to move and where to move it as required until all items that need to be moved have been added to the group.
    Notes:
    1. Items can be moved between different warehouses.
    2. Stock items can't be moved into a single stock location if they are not associated with that location.
  12. Enter a name for the group in the 'Description' field. e.g. 'Replen Primary Pick 01 01 2011'.
  13. Click Ok to save and exit the group, unless you wish to process it immediately, see step below.

Processing Groups

  1. Open a Warehouse screen (show me how).
  2. Click on the Perform Location Movements button in the Warehouse List screen. button to open the Location Move dialog.
  3. Click on the Open batch button button to display a list of all Group Movements.
  4. Find the group that requires processing, focus on it and click Ok.
  5. Check the batch.
  6. Click the process batch button button to complete stock movements.
  7. Click on Yes to process the group now.
  8. Click OK in the Information popup which contains the Group ID. The group will be processed and a date entered in the Processed field at the top.
