Warehouse Control Overview
Warehouse Location Control is an advanced stock management feature within Khaos Control that allows you to track stock by warehouse location and location type.
Designed for larger, busier warehouses, it provides greater visibility of stock movements and helps warehouse staff identify where stock is stored at any time. When maintained correctly, Warehouse Location Control can improve stock accuracy and streamline warehouse operations.
Important: Warehouse Location Control requires dedicated training before it can be used effectively. We recommend at least one day of training, along with additional consultancy and implementation planning where appropriate.
Is Warehouse Location Control Right for You?
Before enabling Warehouse Location Control, consider the following:
Designed for Busy Warehouses
Warehouse Location Control is intended for businesses with larger warehouses where stock is held in multiple locations and frequent stock movements occur.
Requires Ongoing Management
To keep warehouse data accurate, all stock movements must be recorded as they happen.
This often requires:
- A dedicated stock controller or warehouse administrator.
- Goods received to be booked into the system immediately.
- Stock transfers between locations to be recorded promptly.
- Pickers to record stock removal before goods are packed and dispatched.
Data Accuracy Depends on Process
Warehouse Location Control can only report the information entered into the system.
For example:
- If stock is placed into the wrong location without being recorded, location data will become inaccurate.
- If stock movements are not recorded immediately, discrepancies may occur.
The system records the movements it is given, so consistent warehouse procedures are essential.
Stock Must Be Distributed from ARRIVALS
When Warehouse Location Control is enabled, all incoming stock is initially placed into the ARRIVALS location.
Before the stock can be allocated to sales orders or picked for dispatch, it must be moved to the appropriate warehouse locations.
Note: Enabling Warehouse Location Control automatically creates a warehouse containing the ARRIVALS and CRETURN (Customer Return) locations.
Additional Training May Be Required
We strongly recommend:
- Warehouse Location Control training.
- On-site consultancy when planning your warehouse structure.
- Additional training for advanced warehouse processes.
Alternative to Warehouse Location Control
If you simply need to record where stock is stored without implementing full warehouse management, consider using the Picking Location field.
The Picking Location free-text field can be found on the [ Stock | Detail | Properties ] screen within the Stock Control / Other section.
Information entered into this field is printed in the Location column on the Picking Ticket.
This can be a simpler option for smaller warehouses that do not require full location control.
Additional Warehouse Features
Handheld Terminals (HHT)
Handheld Terminals (HHT) are only available when using Warehouse Location Control and require additional training.
Warehouse Batch Tracking
Warehouse Batches are only available when using Warehouse Location Control and require additional training.
Picking Order
When Warehouse Location Control is enabled, stock is picked in alphanumerical location order.

Opening Warehouse Location Control
There are two ways to access Warehouse Location Control:
From the Stock Screen
- Open the Stock screen.
- Right-click within the stock grid.
- Select Warehouse Control.
Using the Command Window
- Open the Command Window.
- Type sw.
- Press Enter.

Create and maintain warehouse locations and stock assignments.

Manage replenishment requirements between warehouse locations.

To get the most from Warehouse Location Control:
- Define a clear warehouse layout before implementation.
- Train all warehouse staff on stock receiving, location movements and picking processes.
- Record stock movements immediately.
- Carry out regular stock checks and audits.
- Keep location codes logical and consistent.
- Assign responsibility for maintaining warehouse data accuracy.
