How To: Remove an Extended Description of a Stock Item

Extended descriptions can be added to individual stock items on a sales order to provide additional information. If the extended description is no longer required, it can be removed directly from the sales order line.
Remove an Extended Description
- Open a Sales Order screen (show me how).
- Use the available filters to locate the required sales order.
- Double-click the sales order to open it.
- Press Alt+E or click Edit to enter edit mode.
- In the sales order detail grid, select the stock item line that contains the extended description you want to remove.
- Right-click the selected line and choose: Clear Extended Description
- Press Ctrl+S or click Save to save the sales order.
Result
The extended description will be removed from the selected sales order line while leaving the stock item itself unchanged.
Additional Information
- Removing an extended description only affects the selected sales order line.
- The stock item's standard description remains unchanged.
- If required, a new extended description can be added to the sales order line later.
