How To: Troubleshoot a non-working client

Troubleshooting a non-working client is an Advanced User feature.

There are a limited number of things that can prevent you running Khaos Control:

  1. The shortcut cannot execute the "Target" program and/or cannot access the "Start in" folder.
  2. The KhaosControl executable cannot read/write the KeystoneSoftware key in the registry's HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE hive.
  3. The program cannot read/write the KeystoneSoftware folders on the shared drive.
  4. The program cannot access the SQL Server instance and/or the server that hosts it.

An 'ErrorLog.txt' file, containing a detailed error message, should be created in the "Start in" folder whenever KhaosControl fails to load, the "Start in" folder is usually the KeystoneSoftware\Applic folder.
