How To: Copy Stock Relationships (Packs, Builds)
Table Of Contents
Introduction
If you regularly create similar build, pack or bundled products, you can save time by copying stock relationships from an existing stock item to another stock item.
This feature copies the existing relationship structure, including the child items, allowing you to quickly create new build or pack items without manually recreating the relationships.
Before You Start
- Open an existing stock item with no relationships, or create a new stock item.
- Ensure you have identified the stock item whose relationships you want to copy.
- Be aware that Pack (Move With) parent stock items are not stock controlled.
Copying a Stock Relationship
- Open a Stock screen.
- Create a new stock item or open an existing stock item that does not already have relationships assigned.
- Select the Detail | Relationships tab.
- Click the Copy Relationship button.
- In the Stock Lookup window, double-click the stock item whose relationships you want to copy.
- When prompted, click Yes to confirm.
The relationship will be copied and the associated child items will be added to the Relationships tab.
After Copying
Once the relationship has been copied:
- Review the child items to ensure they are correct for the new stock item.
- Update quantities or components if required.
- Save any changes made to the relationship.
Important Notes
Note: You may need to close and reopen the stock record before the build options at the bottom of the screen become available.
- If you add, remove or amend child items, you should update the Value Proportions to ensure the relationship values remain accurate.
- Nested Build relationships are supported.
- Nested Move With, Pack and Bundle relationships are not supported.
- Pack (Move With) parent items are not stock controlled.
Tips
Copying relationships is particularly useful when creating products that share the same component structure, as it reduces setup time and helps maintain consistency across stock records.
