Card Integration Overview
Warning: Card Integration settings must only be configured or modified by Khaos Control. Incorrect changes may affect the operation of your card payment integration and could prevent card transactions from being processed correctly.
Introduction
Khaos Control supports a range of integrated card payment solutions from external payment providers. These integrations allow card payments and refunds to be processed directly from within Khaos Control.
Card Integration is configured by the Khaos Control team on your behalf and can be tailored to suit your business processes and chosen payment provider.
Supported Payment Providers
Khaos Control currently supports integrations with:
- Commidea (IPC2)
- Creditcall
- Global Payments
- Realex
- Opayo
- Skrill
Independent Chip & PIN Providers
The following independent Chip & PIN solutions are also supported:
- Commidea
- Creditcall
How Card Integration Works
Khaos Control does not authorise card payments itself.
When a user requests a card payment or refund:
- Khaos Control establishes a secure, encrypted connection to the configured payment provider.
- The card details are transmitted securely.
- The payment provider processes the transaction.
- The result is returned to Khaos Control.
The payment provider will return one of the following outcomes:
- The transaction is authorised.
- The transaction is declined.
Payment Options
A range of payment processing options are available depending on the provider you use.
Take Payment at Different Stages
Card payments can be processed:
- When the sales order is created.
- When goods are despatched.
Pre-authorisation and Deferred Charging
Some payment providers support pre-authorisation.
This allows Khaos Control to:
- Verify the card and available funds when an order is placed.
- Delay the actual charge until goods are ready for despatch.
This can help identify card issues early while avoiding charging the customer before fulfilment.
Batch Processing
Cards can be charged:
- Individually.
- In batches through Invoice Manager.
The point at which charges are made can be configured to match your workflow, for example:
- Before picking.
- After picking.
- Before shipping labels are produced.
Refund Processing
Refunds can be issued directly back to the original payment card, making customer returns and credit processing more efficient.
Website Payment Integration
Khaos Control can import payment information from your website, including:
- Transaction references where the website has already processed the payment.
- Card details where the website has only captured payment information.
Additional integration work with your web developers may be required.
Additional Provider Integrations
Where required, Khaos Control can integrate with other payment providers subject to compatibility and development requirements.
Note: Not all payment providers support every feature. For example, some providers may not offer pre-authorisation functionality. Always confirm available features before selecting a provider.
Card Detail Requirements
The minimum information required to process a card payment is:
- Card number
- Expiry date
Card Number
Typically 16 digits, although some card types may use a different format.
Expiry Date
Enter using the format:
MM/YY
Example:
- 06/28
Additional Information Often Required
Depending on the payment provider and card type, additional fields may also be required:
Cardholder Name
The name shown on the payment card.
Where possible, Khaos Control will populate this automatically using the invoice contact details.
Start Date and Issue Number
Typically required for certain card types such as Maestro.
CV2 / CVV Security Code
The security code found on the payment card.
- 3 digits for most cards.
- 4 digits for American Express cards.
Billing Address and Postcode
The cardholder's billing address information.
Automatic Card Validation
As card details are entered, Khaos Control will attempt to:
- Identify the card type automatically.
- Validate the information entered.
- Highlight any missing mandatory fields.
- Indicate additional information required by the payment provider.
There is no need to manually select the card type, as Khaos Control determines this from the card number.
Fraud Prevention Features
Many payment providers support additional security checks designed to reduce fraudulent transactions.
Address Verification (AVS / AAV)
Checks whether the billing address supplied matches the address held by the card issuer.
CV2 / CVV Verification
Validates the card security code supplied during the transaction.
Important Notes on Security Checks
- Some payment providers require these checks to be completed for every transaction.
- In many cases, banks do not make these checks mandatory.
- However, performing these checks may help reduce the risk of fraudulent transactions and may strengthen a merchant's position in the event of a dispute or chargeback investigation.
Additional Information
Card Integration can streamline payment processing by allowing payments and refunds to be handled directly within Khaos Control while maintaining secure communication with your chosen payment provider.
Because every payment provider offers different functionality and security options, it is important to discuss your requirements with both your payment provider and Khaos Control before implementation. This helps ensure the integration is configured to support your operational and compliance requirements.
