How To: Configure build parents and children when using Advanced Reordering
Advanced Reordering has been changed so that users can opt stock items into advance build/child item calculations based on the Parent Sales demand and Child Sales Demand.
Setup
- Open a Stock screen.
- Open the
[ Stock | Detail | Options ]screen. - Press Alt+E or click
to enter edit mode. - The options are:
- Combine Relationship Values
- Exclude from Reordering Reports
- Tick as required, see the table below for how these work.
Note: these can be block updated using the Update Selected Stock Items... dialog.

| Child Item TICKED | The system will calculate the total number of a child item needed to make up all build parents that the child item belongs to. | The child item won't be visible in the Reordering (Advanced) tab. |
| Child Item UNTICKED | The system won't calculate the total number of a child item needed to build the parent items. | The child item is visible in the Advanced Reordering tab. |
| Parent Build TICKED | In Advanced Stock Reordering, the qty to order for this build stock item will combine the qty to order from any of its child items that are also in the report, proportional to the qty required for the relationship | Parent Build won't be visible in the Advanced Reordering tab. This potentially decreases the quantity To Reorder of the child item - providing it is set to being visible in Advanced Reordering and Combine Relationship Values is ticked for the child item. |
| Parent Build UNTICKED | In Advanced Stock Reordering, the qty to order for this build stock item will not combine the qty to order from any of its child items that are also in the report | Parent Build is visible in the Reordering (Advanced) tab. |
Usage
- Open a Stock screen.
- Find and load the build child stock item you want to find the total amount to order for.
- Open the
[ Stock | Detail | Options ]screen. - Press Alt+E or click to enter edit mode.
- Tick the Combine Relationship Values option.
- Press Ctrl+S or click
to save. - Open the
[ Reordering | Reordering Advanced ]screen. - Add the filters as normal and press the Go button.
The results displayed will depend on the options enabled against the build parent and child items. Removing a parent will decrease the qty of the child item to order.
