How To: Setup Free Delivery on a Stock Item

This is a three-step process:

  1. Create a "Free Delivery" keycode;
  2. Create a "Free Delivery" telesales prompt;
  3. Link the stock item(s) or stock type(s) that are to have free delivery to the telesales prompt.

Once you have done this, you will need to close and re-open the Sales Order screen for this to take effect.

Notes:

  • Setting free delivery in this way stops Khaos Control from applying normal delivery charges. A delivery charge can still be added to the Sales Order by manually typing a value into the 'Delivery Charge' field on the Sales Order screen.
  • Free or reduced price delivery is not supported if the Discount Code checkbox is ticked (i.e. when creating alias keycodes).

Create a "Free Delivery" keycode

  1. Open a Promotion screen (show me how).
  2. In the [ Promotions ] screen press the Key Codes radio button.
  3. Press Ctrl+N or click the New item icon is the button bar's NEW button to create a new key code..
  4. Enter key code (e.g. FREEDEL).
  5. Enter description (e.g. Free Delivery).
  6. Untick the Web checkbox as the offer is not going to be used on the website.
  7. Press the new item button in the button bar and see a new line appear in the 'Discounts and Delivery Charges' grid. Set values as: Low = 0, High = 999999.99, % = 0, Net Delivery = 0.00, Del Active = (ticked).
  8. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save the keycode.

Create a "Free Delivery" telesales prompt

  1. Open a Promotion screen (show me how).
  2. In the [ Promotions ] screen press the Telesales Rules radio button.
  3. Press Ctrl+N or click the New item icon is the button bar's NEW button to create a new telesales rule..
  4. Enter short description (e.g. Free Delivery).
  5. Unless you want to apply this retrospectively when editing Sales Orders already in your system, leave the 'Only affect new sales orders (not edited ones)' checkbox ticked. This can be found in the General area of the screen (General tab).
  6. Set the start and end dates or tick the 'Always Active' check box. This can be found in the General area of the screen (General tab).
  7. Enter the prompt required to the right of the General area (e.g. Free delivery on this item).
  8. From the 'Apply Keycode' drop-down list box select the keycode you have setup for free delivery (e.g. FREEDEL - Free Delivery).
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save telesales prompt.

Link the stock item(s) to the telesales rule.

  1. Open a Promotion screen (show me how).
  2. Open the [ Telesales Rules ] tab.
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press the BtnNewItem.jpg button in the button bar.
  5. Select the stock item to have free delivery by double-clicking on it in the stock lookup dialog. The stock item will then be displayed on the 'Trigger Items' tab.
  6. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save once you have finished adding items to the telesales prompt.

It is also possible to set free delivery on all items in a stock type by using the 'Trigger Types' tab to select the stock types.
