How To: Setup Free Delivery on a Stock Item

Table Of Contents

You can offer free delivery on selected products by creating a free delivery keycode and linking it to a telesales rule. When a qualifying item is added to a sales order, Khaos Control will apply the free delivery keycode and prevent standard delivery charges from being calculated.
This is a three-step process:
  1. Create a free delivery keycode.
  2. Create a free delivery telesales rule.
  3. Link the relevant stock items or stock types to the telesales rule.
Important: After completing the setup, close and reopen the Sales Order screen before testing the promotion.

Notes

  • Configuring free delivery in this way prevents Khaos Control from applying its normal delivery charge calculations.
  • Users can still manually enter a delivery charge in the Delivery Charge field on the Sales Order screen if required.
  • Free or reduced-price delivery is not supported when the Discount Code checkbox is ticked, such as when using alias keycodes.

Step 1: Create a Free Delivery Keycode

  1. Open the Promotion screen (Show me how).
  2. On the [ Promotions ] screen, select the Key Codes option.
  3. Press Ctrl + N or click New to create a new keycode.
  4. Enter a code, for example:
    FREEDEL
  5. Enter a description, for example:
    Free Delivery
  6. Untick the Web checkbox, as this promotion is intended for telesales use rather than website orders.
  7. Click New Item on the toolbar to add a row to the Discounts and Delivery Charges grid.
  8. Enter the following values:
FieldValue
Low0
High999999.99
%0
Net Delivery0.00
Del ActiveTicked
  1. Press Ctrl + S or click Save.
The free delivery keycode is now ready to be used by a telesales rule.

Step 2: Create a Free Delivery Telesales Rule

  1. Open the Promotion screen.
  2. On the [ Promotions ] screen, select Telesales Rules.
  3. Press Ctrl + N or click New to create a new telesales rule.
  1. Enter a Short Description, for example:
    Free Delivery
  2. Leave Only affect new sales orders (not edited ones) ticked unless you want the promotion to apply when existing sales orders are edited.
  3. Set the required start and end dates, or tick Always Active to make the promotion permanently available.
  4. Enter the prompt message that users should see, for example:
    Free delivery on this item
  5. From the Apply Keycode dropdown, select the free delivery keycode created earlier, for example:
    FREEDEL - Free Delivery
  6. Press Ctrl + S or click Save.

Once the telesales rule has been created, you need to specify which products will trigger free delivery.
  1. Open the Promotion screen.
  2. Open the [ Telesales Rules ] tab.
  3. Open the telesales rule you created.
  4. Press Alt + E or click Edit.
  5. Click Add Item on the toolbar.
  6. In the stock lookup window, double-click the stock item that should qualify for free delivery.
  7. The selected item will be added to the Trigger Items tab.
  8. Repeat the process for any additional items that should qualify.
  9. Press Ctrl + S or click Save when finished.
The selected products will now trigger the free delivery promotion when added to a sales order.

Apply Free Delivery by Stock Type

If you want free delivery to apply to an entire product range, you can use stock types instead of individual stock items.
  1. Open the telesales rule.
  2. Go to the Trigger Types tab.
  3. Add the required stock type or stock types.
  4. Save the telesales rule.
Any stock item belonging to the selected stock type will then qualify for free delivery.

Additional Information

  • The free delivery keycode controls the delivery charge reduction.
  • Trigger Items allow free delivery to be applied to individual products.
  • Trigger Types allow free delivery to be applied across entire product categories.
  • Existing open Sales Order screens must be closed and reopened before newly created rules will take effect.
  • Manual delivery charges can still be entered on qualifying orders if required.
