Using the Calendar
This content was first published as a Hidden Gem in February 2010.
What is the Calendar and where is it used?
The calendar allows the user to select a date, either as a single date or as part of a date range. The date set can then be used on its own as a filter or in conjunction with other filters for example:
-
[ Sales Orders | List ]
screen allowing the user to filter all sales orders by delivery date or order date. -
[ Purchase Order | List ]
screen allowing the user to filter for all purchase orders for a particular Supplier within the date range specified. - The (F4 button) in the
[ Sales Invoice Manager | Staged Processing ]
screen which allows the user to filter by Delivery Date and Required by Date in conjunction with any other filters that are activated. -
[ Accounts | Nominal Accounts | Trial Balance ]
screen allowing the user to view the nominal accounts during the specified date range. -
[ Appointments & Actions List ]
screen allowing the user to view the information between the date range selected. - The user can select the expiry date of a Keycode so it will no longer be available for use on sales orders using the Expiry Date in the
[ Promotion | Key Code ]
screen.
There are several methods that can be used to change the date field in Khaos Control, users will find the method that suits them, either entering the date in manually (Method One) or selecting the date using the calendar popup (Methods Two and Three).
Notes:
- The calendar functionality and colour scheme will vary depending on the operating system and version that is used.
- If you are seeing USA formatted dates (i.e. month-day-year) when running Khaos Control on a Microsoft Windows 7 client, something was not configured correctly when Windows 7 was installed, see How To: See UK Date format in Windows 7.
Changing the Date
Method One - directly entering the date
The first method uses the numbers on the keyboard and the directional arrows to the left of the number keypad.
- Click on the Date.
- Enter the required date.
- Use the -> right directional arrow (or you can use /), this will move focus onto the month.
- Enter the month as a number.
- Use the -> right directional arrow (or you can use /), this will move focus onto the year.
- Enter the year as a number.
Notes:
- The whole date does not have to be changed, for example users can focus on the month and just enter the month they require.
- The up and down directional arrows can be used to increase or decrease the date, month or year.
Method Two - using the calendar components
- Click on the down arrow to the right of the date to bring up the calendar.
- Click on the year, in this case 2010, and use the spinner arrows to change the year.
- Click on the month, in this case February, and from the drop down list select the required month.
- Select the date by clicking on the required date in the calendar.
Method Three - using the directional arrows on the calendar
Method three uses the directional arrows on the calendar popup.
- Click on the down arrow to the right of the date to bring up the calendar.
- Use the left and right arrows at the top of the calendar to move to the adjacent month, either the previous month using the left arrow or the next month using the right arrow.

To jump to today's date click on the red square next to the today's date at the bottom of the calendar popup.
Note: depending on the user's operating system this can be a blue or red square or red circle.
