How To: Clear an F4 Lookup cell

If you have selected the wrong value in an F4 lookup field, you can clear the selection without having to re-enter the record.

Clear an F4 Lookup Field

  1. Press Alt+E or click Edit to enter edit mode.
  2. Click into the F4 lookup field you want to clear.
  3. Press F4 until the lookup list opens and the first item in the list is selected.
    Note: You may need to press F4 twice.
  4. Press the Spacebar repeatedly until the lookup value is cleared.
  5. Click OK or press Enter to confirm the change.
  6. Press Ctrl+S or click Save.

Result

The selected lookup value will be removed and the field will be left blank.

Tips

  • If the field is mandatory, Khaos Control may prevent the record from being saved until a new value is selected.
  • Always save the record after clearing a lookup field to ensure the change is retained.
  • This method can be used on any editable field that uses the standard F4 lookup functionality.
