How To: Delete a Website or Category

Introduction
Website Categories setup and maintenance is an Advanced User feature.The Web Configuration screen allows you to manage websites and website categories used by your web integration. If a website or category is no longer required, it can be removed from the website structure.Important: Please speak to your website developers before making changes to website structures, as deleting websites or categories may affect website navigation, URLs or content visibility.Prerequisite: Configuring and maintaining Web Categories requires HQ User permission.Delete a Website or Category
- Open the Web Configuration screen.For help opening this screen, see How To: Open the Website Categories Screen.
- Load the required website.
- Press Alt+E or click Edit to enter edit mode.
- Click the Expand button.
- Select the website or category you want to delete.
- Click the Delete button on the toolbar.
- When the confirmation message appears, click Yes.
- Press Ctrl+S or click Save to apply the change.
Deleting Blank or Nameless Categories
Occasionally, a website or category may be created without a name, making it difficult to select with the mouse.To remove a blank category or website:- Select a nearby website or category that has a visible name.
- Use the keyboard Up Arrow and Down Arrow keys to move through the website structure until the blank entry is highlighted.
- Click the Delete button.
- Save the changes using Ctrl+S or Save.
Additional Information
Deleting a website category permanently removes it from the website structure.Before removing categories, consider:- Whether products are assigned to the category.
- Whether the category is linked from other website pages.
- Any potential impact on website navigation or search engine optimisation (SEO).
If you are unsure whether a category is still required, consult your website developers before making changes.
