How To: Extend an Expired Journal Template Schedule List


A journal that has expired can be extended by adding additional increments to the number already listed in the Count column. However the journal template will still retain its original Date Ended.

  1. Open a Journal Templates screen (show me how).
  2. In the [ Journal Templates | List ] tab check the Show All (or only not ended) checkbox and press the Go button to populate the grid.
  3. Double-click on the journal template you wish to extend.
    Note: the date the journal ended is displayed in the Ended column.
  4. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  5. Add the additional number of times you wish to extend the payment schedule for to the number already listed in the Count Field.
  6. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.
  7. Click on the Generate Scheduled List button.
  8. The [ Journal Templates | Detail | Schedule ] tab will open displaying the recurring journal template.
  9. The entries that have already been processed will have a yellow background with a STATUS of Applied.
  10. The next journal entry due to be applied is displayed in a red line with a STATUS of Applied Next.
  11. The new journal template entries are displayed on a grey background, with a STATUS of Not Applied along with the date they are due to be processed.
    Note: the number of times the journal template entries are displayed depends on the Count field when the journal template is set up.

Note: to locate an expired journal in order to process it the Show All (or only not ended) checkbox must be ticked in the [ Journal Templates | List ] tab to display all the journals that have expired. The correct journal can then be selected and processed as normal.
