How To: Move Categories

Introduction
Website Categories can be moved between different nodes within your website structure. This is useful when reorganising your website, improving navigation, or correcting a category that was created in the wrong location.
Important: Website Categories setup and maintenance is an advanced user feature. Before making changes, speak to your website developers to ensure the updates align with your website design and navigation structure.Configuring and managing Website Categories requires HQ User permission.
Move a Category to a New Location
- Open the Web Configuration screen. For guidance, see How To: Open the Website Categories Screen.
- Load the website you want to update.
- Press Alt + E or select Edit to enter edit mode.
- Expand the category nodes involved in the move.
- Select the category you want to relocate.
- Drag the category and drop it onto the new parent node.
- When prompted, select Yes to confirm the move.
- Press Ctrl + S or select Save to save your changes.

- Moving a category retains the category and its associated settings.
- Products assigned to the category remain linked after the move.
- Reorganising categories can help improve website navigation and product discovery.
