How To: Setup Stock Items for use with New HHT

Overview
To use HHT2 effectively, certain stock item settings should be configured where appropriate:
- Barcodes
- Volumetric information
- Average weight
- Pack (Move With) headers
Note: All options except barcodes can be updated in bulk. For more information, see How To: Block Update Selected Stock Items.
Configure Barcodes
Stock items must have barcodes configured before they can be scanned using HHT2.
Barcodes can be stored as:
- The stock code
- The Other Ref value
- An entry in the Barcode list
Barcodes are maintained within the
[ Stock | Detail | Properties ] screen.Option 1: Use the Other Ref Field
- Open a Stock screen (show me how).
- Enter edit mode.
- Enter the barcode into the Other Ref field.
- Save your changes.
Option 2: Use the Barcode Button
- Open the stock item.
- Click the Barcode button.
- Add a new barcode.
- Enter the barcode value into the Barcode field.
- Click OK to save.
Configure Volumetric Information
Volumetric information helps Khaos Control calculate how many items can fit into a box during packing and despatch processes.
To configure volumetric data:
- Open a Stock screen (show me how).
- Go to [ Stock | Detail | Properties ].
- Enter edit mode.
- In the Other section, enter the following dimensions:
- H (Height)
- W (Width)
- D (Depth)
- Save your changes.
How Volume Is Calculated
Khaos Control automatically calculates the volume using:
Height × Width × Depth
Note: The unit of measurement is not defined by the system. Whether you use millimetres, centimetres or other metric units, you must use the same unit consistently across all stock items.
Configure Average Weight
Average weight information can be used by warehouse and despatch processes.
To enter an average weight:
- Open a Stock screen (show me how).
- Go to [ Stock | Detail | Properties ].
- Enter edit mode.
- Enter a value in the Avg Weight field.
- Save your changes.
Configure Pack (Move With) Headers
Pack headers are virtual items and cannot be stored in warehouse locations in the same way as physical stock items.
To ensure they work correctly with HHT2, pack header stock items should be configured as non-physical items.
Set a Pack Header as a Non-Physical Item
- Open a Stock screen (show me how).
- Open [ Detail | Options ].
- Enter edit mode.
- Tick the Non-physical item checkbox.
- Save your changes.
Pre-Packed Pack Items
If you pre-build or pre-pack pack items, they should be configured with a build relationship.
Using a build relationship allows Khaos Control to:
- Store the packed item in a warehouse location.
- Keep stock records accurate.
- Allow the item to be picked using HHT2 functionality.
