How To: Create a Textual Warehouse


Warehouse Location Control is not enabled by default.
Training must be completed before using the warehouse functionality.

Warehouse Location Control is an Advanced User feature.
It contains complex, resource-intensive functionality and a decision to begin using it should therefore not be taken lightly.

Before you can create any Warehouse you must setup Stock Location Types, see How To: Setup Stock Location Types.

Creating the Warehouse

  1. Open a Warehouse screen (show me how).
  2. Press Ctrl+N or click the New item icon is the button bar's NEW button .
  3. Click 'Yes' to Create a new Warehouse.
  4. Click in 'Code' at the top left hand corner of the screen and enter the code for your Warehouse.
  5. Click in 'Description' and enter the actual name of your Warehouse.
  6. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Setting up the Stock Picking Locations

All stock controlled items MUST be allocated a warehouse location once the warehouse functionality has been enabled. This can either be a location holding a single item or a multi stock location holding different stock items.

Single Stock Location

The following four procedures must be performed for each stock item you wish to be controlled by the Warehouse using a single location.

Setting up a Stock Items Picking (Primary) location

  1. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  2. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right to add a new item.
  3. Enter your Warehouse Location Code in the 'Code' column (example. AA-001-A see expanded explanation of example code below).
    Note: this data can be displayed as location on Picking reports when defined.
  4. Enter your expanded Long Warehouse Location description in the 'Description' column (example. Aisle A, Bay One, Level A).
  5. Click in the 'Type' cell and press F4, a List Box will appear with the selection of Stock Location Types.
  6. Click on the line that you setup as your 'Picking (Primary)' location.
  7. Focus in the 'Stock Code (F8)' column and press F8.
  8. Select the desired stock item.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Setting up a Stock Items Picking (Secondary) location

  1. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  2. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right to add a new item.
  3. Enter your Warehouse Location Code in the 'Code' column (example. AA-001-B see expanded explanation of example code below).
    Note: this data can be displayed as location on Picking reports when defined.
  4. Enter your expanded Long Warehouse Location description in the 'Description' column (example. Aisle A, Bay One, Level B).
  5. Click in the 'Type' cell and press F4, a List Box will appear with the selection of Stock Location Types.
  6. Click on the line that you setup as your 'Picking (Secondary)' location.
  7. Focus in the 'Stock Code (F8)' column and press F8.
  8. Select the desired stock item.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Setting up a Stock Items Picking (Bulk) location

  1. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  2. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right to add a new item.
  3. Enter your Warehouse Location Code in the 'Code' column (example. AA-001-C see expanded explanation of example code below).
    Note: this data can be displayed as location on Picking reports when defined.
  4. Enter your expanded Long Warehouse Location description in the 'Description' column (example. Aisle A, Bay One, Level C).
  5. Click in the 'Type' cell and press F4, a List Box will appear with the selection of Stock Location Types.
  6. Click on the line that you setup as your 'Picking (Bulk)' location.
  7. Focus in the 'Stock Code (F8)' column and press F8.
  8. Select the desired stock item.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Setting up a Stock Items No auto-Pick location

  1. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  2. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right to add a new item.
  3. Enter your Warehouse Location Code in the 'Code' column (example. AA-001-A 'see expanded explanation of example code below').
    Note: this data can be displayed as location on Picking reports when defined.
  4. Enter your expanded Long Warehouse Location description in the 'Description' column (example. Aisle A, Bay One, Level A).
  5. Click in the 'Type' cell and press F4, a List Box will appear with the selection of Stock Location Types.
  6. Click on the line that you setup as your 'No auto-pick' location.
  7. Focus in the 'Stock Code (F8)' column and press F8.
  8. Select the desired stock item.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Multi-Stock Location

Setting up a Multi-Stock Items Put Away (Bulk) location

  1. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  2. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right to add a new item.
  3. Enter your Warehouse Location Code in the 'Code' column (example. Delivery Bay).
    Note: this data can be displayed as location on Picking reports when defined.
  4. Enter your expanded Long Warehouse Location description in the Description' column (example. Delivery Drop-Off Area)
  5. Click in the 'Type' cell and press F4, a List Box will appear with the selection of Stock Location Types.
  6. Click on the line that you setup as your 'Put Away (Bulk)' location.
  7. Check the WH038a.jpg checkbox in the bottom left hand corner of the pane, or the checkbox in the 'Multi?' column in the grid. A new tab and grid will appear called 2:Multi Stock Location.
  8. Click the WH038b.jpg button to add a Stock Item to the Put Away (Bulk) location. Add all items held in all other picking stages.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button to save.

Notes:

  1. You can also setup multi-stock locations that are Picking (Primary), Picking (Secondary), Picking (Bulk) or No auto-Pick by selecting the appropriate Type in Step 5 above.
  2. When creating more than one location, they can all be set to Multi locations by green-selecting them and using 'Apply Value Range' from the context menu to set the checkbox in the 'Multi?' column as ticked.
