How To: Quickly Add Nominal Accounts when Journaling

Introduction

When creating journals, you can use the Journal Quick Entry feature to add nominal accounts and journal values directly into the journal grid without having to manually select each nominal account.
This can significantly speed up the journalling process, particularly when entering multiple debit and credit lines.

Steps

  1. Right-click within the Journals grid at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Select Journal Quick Entry from the context menu.
  3. Enter the nominal account code.
  4. Press Enter, Tab, or use the right arrow key (→) to move to the Credit or Debit column.
  5. Enter the journal value.
  6. At the end of the row, press Enter to create a new line.
  7. Repeat the process until all required journal lines have been entered.
  8. Click OK or press Alt + O.
The journal lines will be transferred into the journal grid on the Accounts | Nominal Accounts | Nominal Accounts screen.
  9. Review and complete any additional journal information, such as:
    • Date
    • Currency
    • Nominal Classification
    • Notes or references
  10. Once you are happy with the journal, save or post it using the journal controls.

Invalid Nominal Codes

If a nominal account code is not recognised, the entry field will be highlighted in red.
Any rows containing invalid nominal account codes will not be transferred to the journal grid when you click OK.
Before proceeding, correct any highlighted entries to ensure all journal lines are included.
