How To: Setup SCS Element Values
How To: Setup SCS Element Values
By default, users can enter any values when creating SCS (Stock Code Structure) items. If you want to standardise data entry and ensure consistency, you can restrict users to selecting from predefined SCS elements and captions.
This is particularly useful when creating large numbers of SCS items, as it helps maintain consistent stock codes and descriptions across your product range.
Setting up restricted SCS elements involves three stages:
- Enable the Restrict SCS Element Values option.
- Create the available SCS Element Captions.
- Create the allowed Stock Codes and Descriptions for each caption.
Enable Restrict SCS Element Values
- Open the [ System Values | Stock | SCS ] tab.
- Tick the Restrict SCS Element Values option.
- Click OK to save the setting.
- Close and reopen Khaos Control for the change to take effect.
Once enabled, users will only be able to select from the predefined SCS elements and values that have been configured.

Element Captions define the categories available within your SCS profiles, such as Size, Colour or Style.

- Open the [ System Data | Stock | SCS Element Stock Preset ] screen.
- Press Alt + E or click Edit.

Notes
- Leading and trailing spaces are automatically removed from SCS Element Codes and Descriptions.
- Only a single space is permitted between words when entering SCS Element Codes or Descriptions.
- Restricting SCS Element Values helps ensure stock codes and descriptions remain consistent across all generated SCS items.
Important: Entries can still be deleted from both System Data tables after they have been used in SCS Profiles.
Deleting an entry will not affect stock items that have already been generated. However, it may affect:
- How existing SCS profiles display.
- Future editing of those profiles.
- Copying existing SCS items.
- Future SCS item generation using those profiles.
For this reason, it is recommended that SCS Element Presets are reviewed carefully before removing entries that are already in use.
