How To: Setup a EPOS User Password

Warning
Only users with Administrator permissions can create or update EPOS user passwords.
Each EPOS user requires a unique sign-on code (password) to access the EPOS system. Passwords must be unique to each user and comply with the EPOS password requirements.

Password Requirements

An EPOS sign-on code must:
  • Be unique to the user.
  • Be longer than four characters.
  • Not contain a sequence of five or fewer consecutive characters or numbers.

Set or Change an EPOS User Password

  1. Open a System Data screen (show me how).
  2. Open the [ Others | Users ] screen.
  3. If the user does not already exist, create the user record first. See How To: Create an EPOS User.
  4. Select the user who requires an EPOS password.
  5. Right-click the user and select Edit User Permissions... from the context menu.
  6. Click in the EPOS Sign-On Code field.
  7. Enter the user's new EPOS password, replacing the existing hidden value.
    Note
It is recommended that EPOS passwords are managed and controlled by a system administrator.
  8. Click OK to apply the change.

Result

The user can now use the new EPOS sign-on code to access the EPOS system.

Tips

  • Assign a different password to every EPOS user.
  • Avoid simple or predictable passwords.
  • Update passwords periodically as part of your organisation's security procedures.
  • Restrict password administration to authorised users only.
