EPOS Prerequisites

Mandatory Prerequisites

Initial EPOS Login User

It is wise to create a EPOS User for each EPOS terminal that you intend to use. The advantage of this is that a regular user's login is not tied up at a terminal, specific user permissions can be set and an appropriate Sales Source can be used for EPOS sales.

The Sales Source is used to segregate the EPOS sales from each other. So if you have two tills and wish to run the EPOS reports separately for these independently, we would recommend that you have separate sources for each till. However the sources can also be used for special purposes; for example if you are running an event and wish to separate EPOS sales directly relating to the event from normal sales. This can be achieved by using the System Values, EPOS option "Sales Source Prompt".

All EPOS sales require a Source. If a Source is not specified against the user account and your system is not configured to use the prompt option, you will receive an error as this is required to be used as the default Source. If you are using the Sales Source Prompt option, then as part of each EPOS sale the operator will be prompted for provide the relevant Sales Source for that sale.

Notes:

  1. If the system defined "No Source" source is selected against the user, this will cause sales to be recorded against it.
  2. If you wish to not have a default source and always use the prompt option, the source against your EPOS user must be blank.
