How To: Write Off Quarantined Stock Items

If stock has been placed into quarantine and can no longer be used or sold, you can write it off directly from the stock record. This process removes the specified quantity from the quarantine stock holding and updates the stock totals accordingly.
Write Off Quarantined Stock
- Open a Stock screen (show me how).
- Load the stock item you want to write off.
- Check the Quarantine quantity in the stock totals section at the bottom-right of the screen. This shows the maximum quantity available to write off.
- Press F9, or click the down arrow next to Other Actions, then select:Write Off / Quarantine > Write-Off from Quarantine
- Enter the quantity you want to write off.
- Click OK.
- Enter a write-off reason if required.Note: Entering a reason is optional, but can be useful for audit and reporting purposes.
- Click OK to complete the write-off.
Important Notes
- You can only write off up to the quantity currently held in Quarantine.
- Once the write-off is complete, the stock totals displayed in the bottom-right corner of the Stock screen will be updated automatically.
- The write-off permanently removes the selected quantity from the quarantined stock holding.
Additional Information
Quarantine stock is typically used to hold damaged, faulty, returned or otherwise unusable items until a decision is made on their disposition. Writing off quarantined stock ensures that stock levels remain accurate and reflects items that are no longer available for sale or use.
