Introduction

The Consignments feature in Khaos Control enables you to manage the shipment of goods from one port to another using purchase orders.
Consignments can be used when goods are:
  • Shipped directly to a customer.
  • Shipped to your own location before being distributed.
  • Combined into a single shipment containing items for multiple customers.
In addition to tracking shipments, Consignments allow you to allocate shipping and import costs across the stock items contained within the consignment. This provides a more accurate view of landed costs and stock valuation.

How Consignment Costs Are Applied

Costs associated with a consignment can be amortised across the items included in the shipment.
These costs can be applied in one of two ways:
  • Added to the stock value of the items.
  • Added to the stock item's overhead value.

Important Notes

  • Updating stock values through consignment cost amortisation is only supported when the Stock Value Calculation Method is set to Average.
  • Applying amortised costs to stock overheads will not work for stock items that have a stock value of zero.

Consignment Screens

The Consignments area consists of the following screens:

List

The List screen provides an overview of all consignments and allows you to locate and manage existing records.

Detail Consignment

The Detail Consignment screen contains the main consignment information, including shipment details and the purchase orders linked to the consignment.

Detail Costs

The Detail Costs screen is used to record and manage the costs associated with the consignment, which can then be apportioned across the stock items within the shipment.

Before You Begin

Before using Consignments, several supporting options must be configured within System Data | Consignments.
For setup instructions, see How To: Setup Consignments.

Additional Information

Consignments are particularly useful when importing goods or managing complex shipments where transport and handling costs need to be distributed across multiple stock items. By allocating these costs accurately, you can improve stock valuation, reporting accuracy and profitability analysis
