How To: Automatically Assign a Courier based on a Delivery Address Value

Introduction
Khaos Control can automatically assign a courier service to a sales order when specific text is found within the delivery address.
This is useful when certain locations, address types or delivery destinations always require a particular courier service. For example, you may want all deliveries within a local town to be delivered using your own vehicle, or route BFPO and Packstation addresses through a specialist courier.
The matching process is configured in System Data | Courier Banding.
Example
If you have a courier service called Own Van and want all local deliveries within Grantham to use this service, you could configure:
Address Contains:
GRANTHAMWhenever a sales order contains "GRANTHAM" anywhere within the delivery address, Khaos Control can automatically assign the Own Van courier service.
Setting Up Address Matching
- Open a System Data screen (show me how).
- Open the System Data | Courier Banding screen.
- Press Alt+E or click Edit to enter edit mode.
- In the Address Contains field, enter the text that must be present within the delivery address for the courier service to be selected automatically.Examples include:
GRANTHAMPackstationBFPO- A town or city name
- A county or region name
- Any other identifying address text
- Configure the remaining courier banding settings as required.
- Press Ctrl+S or click Save to save your changes.
How Address Matching Works
When a sales order is created or imported without a courier already assigned, Khaos Control checks the delivery address against the configured Address Contains values.
If a match is found, the associated courier service can be selected automatically.
This applies to:
- Manually created sales orders
- Imported sales orders
- Orders imported from websites and sales channels
Important Notes
- The Address Contains field works alongside other courier selection criteria such as:
- Brand
- Country Zone
- Postcodes
- Weight bands
- Courier Groups
- Address matching is only one part of the courier selection process and should be configured alongside any other applicable courier banding rules.
- The matching text must appear somewhere within the delivery address for the rule to be triggered.
Re-evaluating Courier Selection
Sales orders can be re-evaluated to determine the most appropriate courier service either during import or before invoicing.
