How To: Copy a Stock Item

Introduction
Copying a stock item allows you to create a new product based on an existing one, saving time when creating similar items. Most of the stock item's details are copied automatically, reducing the amount of information that needs to be re-entered.
Warning: Admin Users can copy a stock item, even if they do not have permission to create new stock items.
Copy a Stock Item
- Open a Stock screen.
- Load the stock item you want to copy.
- Press F9, or click the down arrow next to the toolbar button to open the Other Actions menu.
- Select Copy Stock Item.Note: If the stock item is part of a Build or Pack relationship, Khaos Control will ask whether you want to copy the relationships as well. Select the appropriate option based on your requirements.
- The copied stock item will be created.
- Update any fields that need to be changed, such as:
- Stock Code
- Description
- Pricing
- Stock Type
- Supplier information
- Press Ctrl+S or click Save.
What Is Copied?
Most standard stock item information is copied to the new stock record, helping to speed up product creation and maintain consistency.
If you choose to copy relationships, Khaos Control will replicate:
- Build relationships
- Pack relationships
- Child items linked to the stock item
- Relationships where the stock item itself is a child
What Is Not Copied?
The following information is not copied when a stock item is duplicated:

| Complaints and Comments | Not copied. Extended Stock Descriptions are copied. |
| Images | Must be re-added to the new stock item. |
| User Defined Attributes (UDAs) | Must be configured separately. |
| Catalogue Pages | Not copied. |
| Linked Documents | Not copied. |
| Up / Cross Sell Relationships | Not copied. |
| Locations | New locations must be configured if Warehouse Control is being used. Until then, the item is controlled by the system warehouse. |
| Country Bars | Not copied. |
Additional Information
Copying stock items is particularly useful when creating:
- Variations of existing products
- Similar product ranges
- Alternative pack sizes
- Colour or size variants
- Supplier-specific versions of existing stock
After copying an item, always review the new stock record to ensure all relevant settings, pricing and product information are correct before making the item available for use.
