How To: Define Stock Types

If using two Stock Types you can define the types using square brackets. When the Stock Types are displayed, for example in the Stock screen, the Level 2 Stock Type is displayed with the Level 1 making it easier to track the hierarchy.
Note: Some system types, for example Packaging, do not use the square brackets i.e. [ and ].
Creating Stock Types
Level 1 Type Types
- Open a System Data screen .
- Double-Click on Level 1: Type Types to open.
- Press Alt+E or click to enter edit mode.
- Press F3 or click to add a new item.
- Add the Level 1 Type Types.
- Press Ctrl+S or click to save.
Level 2 Type
- Open a System Data screen .
- Double-Click on Level 2: Types to open.
- Press Alt+E or click to enter edit mode.
- Press F3 or click to add a new item.
- Add a left square bracket [.
- Add the Level 1 Type Types.
- Add a right square bracket ].
- After the end bracket of the Level 1 Type Types add a space then the Level 2 Type.
- Press Ctrl+S or click to save.

Viewing the different levels
The Stock Types can be viewed along with the hierarchy they belong to in screens such as:

tab:- Stock Type drop down lists e.g. [Books] Adult.
- Sub Type drop down lists e.g. [ Books | Adult | Hardback ] Fiction.
- Stock Lookup popup.
- Stock Types Tree in the Command Window. Users can drill up and down through the different Stock Type levels using a single click in the Stock Types Tree.
