Add a Sales Order Related Entry to the Customer's Communication Log

An entry can be made in a sales order that will also appear in the Customer's Communication Log, for example adding an entry to call a customer back about a stock item.

What are the Benefits of Updating the Customer's Communication Log from a Sales Order?

Benefits of updating the customer's Communication Log from a sales order include:

  • Time saving as the user does not have to open the relevant customer screen to edit it.
  • The information can be added at the same time as the customer is on the phone.
  • A history is built up in the [ Customer | Detail | CRM | Communication Log ] screen of any contact with the customer.
  • Users are able to view any existing communication log entries for the sales order.
  • The sales order number is entered against the entry in the [ Customer | Detail | CRM | Communication Log ] screen, with the sales order number populating the SO Code field. The grid can then be sorted on the SO Code field isolating the communication log entries per sales order.

Updating the Customer's Communication Log

  1. Right-click in the [ Sales Orders | Detail | CRM | Comm Log ] grid.
    Note: you do not need to be in edit mode to create a Comm Log entry from a Sales Order.
  2. Select New Comm Log Entry.
  3. In the Comm Log Entry popup enter the details as required for example:
  4. Click on OK.
  5. Click on OK in the Information popup.
