Comm Log Types

Introduction

Communication Log Types, also known as CRM Contact Types, are used to categorise entries within the CRM Communication Log. They help users identify the purpose of each interaction and make it easier to filter, analyse and report on customer communications.
Examples of Communication Log Types include:
  • Lead
  • Confirmation Call
  • Email
  • Order
  • Follow-Up
  • Complaint
  • Customer Query

Where Communication Log Types Are Used

Communication Log Types are available throughout Khaos Control in the following areas.

Customer / Supplier Communication Log

  • The Contact Type column uses an F4 lookup to select a communication type.

CRM Manager Communication Log (Leads)

  • The Contact Type column uses an F4 lookup to select a communication type.

Sales Order Communication Logs

When adding a communication log entry from the Sales Orders | Detail | CRM | Comm Log grid:
  • The CRM Type drop-down on the Comm Log Entry dialog allows you to select the communication type.

Debt Management

When adding communication entries from the Accounts | Debt Management | Debtors / Creditors screen:
  • The CRM Type drop-down is available when a record is selected.
  • The Comm Log Type drop-down is available within the simplified Communication Log Entry dialog when a record is green-selected.

List Manager

When adding a communication log entry from the List Manager | List screen:
  • The CRM Type drop-down allows you to categorise the communication.

Global Communication Log Entries

When creating a communication log entry from anywhere within Khaos Control using Ctrl + Shift + C:
  • The CRM Type drop-down allows you to select the appropriate communication category.

Communication Log Types Grid

The Communication Log Types grid contains the following fields.

CRM Contact Type

  • CRM Contact Type
    The description of the communication type that will be available throughout the system.

Display Order

  • Display Order
    Controls the order in which Communication Log Types appear in the CRM Type and Comm Log Type drop-down lists.
Lower numbers are displayed before higher numbers.

Context Menu Options

Apply Value Range

Allows you to apply the same value to all selected rows for the currently active column.

Clear Selection

Removes the current selection from the grid.

Communication Log Types provide a consistent method of categorising CRM activities across Khaos Control. Maintaining a well-structured list of contact types can improve reporting, simplify communication tracking and help users quickly identify the purpose of customer interactions.
