How To: Define Stock Types when using more than Two Levels

If using more than two Stock Types you can define the types using square brackets. When the Stock Types are displayed, for example in the Stock screen, the Level 2 Stock Type is displayed with the Level 1 making it easier to track the hierarchy. This is useful for users who have more than two levels of stock type (i.e are using sub-types).

When using three levels only Level 1, Level 2 and Level 4 are used.

Creating Stock Types

Level 1 Type Types

  1. Open a System Data screen (show me how).
  2. Double-Click on Level 1: Type Types to open.
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right   to add a new item.
  5. Add the Level 1 Type Types.
  6. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button    to save.

Level 2 Type

  1. Open a System Data screen (show me how).
  2. Double-Click on Level 2: Types to open.
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right   to add a new item.
  5. Add a left square bracket [.
  6. Add the Level 1 Type Types.
  7. Add a right square bracket ] and a space.
  8. After the end bracket of the Level 1 Type Types and the space add the Level 2 Type.
  9. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button    to save.

Level 3 Mid Type (optional)

  1. Open a System Data screen (show me how).
  2. Double-Click on Level 3: Mid Types (optional) to open.
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right   to add a new item.
  5. Add a left square bracket [.
  6. Add the Level 1 Type Types.
  7. Add a bar | ( Shift + the key to the left of the Z).
  8. Add the level 2 Type.
  9. Add a right square bracket ] and a space.
  10. After the end bracket of the Level 1 Type Types and the space add the Level 3 Mid Type (optional).
  11. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button    to save.

Note: This stage is optional and only used if all four levels of stock types are being used.

Level 4 Sub Type (additional)

  1. Open a System Data screen (show me how).
  2. Double-Click on Level 4: Sub Types (additional) to open.
  3. Press Alt+E or click the green triangle icon is the buttonbar's EDIT button to enter edit mode.
  4. Press F3 or click the NEW ITEM button has an icon that shows two sheets of paper (identified by having the top right corner folded down), arranged diagonally on the icon from top left to bottom right   to add a new item.
  5. Add a left square bracket [.
  6. Add the Level 1 Type Types.
  7. Add a bar | ( Shift + the key to the left of the Z).
  8. Add the level 2 Type.
  9. Add a bar | ( Shift + the key to the left of the Z).
  10. Add the Level 3 Mid Type  (Optional).
  11. Add a right square bracket ] and a space.
  12. After the end bracket of the Level 1 Type Types and the space add the Level 4 Sub Type (additional).
  13. Press Ctrl+S or click the disk icon is the button bar's SAVE button    to save.

Note: If using three stock type levels you only use Levels 1, 2 and 4. In this case miss out steps 9 and 10 above.
