System Data Default Costs
Table Of Contents
Default Costs allow commonly used consignment charges to be added automatically whenever a new Consignment is created.
Typical examples include:
- Freight
- Duty
- Travel
- Interest
- Quality Control (QC)
- Other regularly incurred import or shipping costs
Using Default Costs can save time and help ensure all expected charges are included when managing consignments.
Why Use Default Costs?
Many businesses record supplier invoices through the SP Ledger. However, when a supplier invoice needs to be split across multiple consignments, Default Costs provide a convenient way to allocate those charges correctly.
When costs are applied to a consignment:
- Default Costs are included automatically.
- Costs entered through the SP Ledger are also included.
- Khaos Control combines these values and apportions the total cost across the stock items on the consignment.
Note: You do not have to use Default Costs. Costs can also be added directly against individual consignments using the Consignment Detail Costs tab.
Removing Default Costs
Although Default Costs are automatically added to new consignments, they can be removed or adjusted if they are not required for a particular shipment.
Default Costs Grid
The Default Costs grid contains the standard charges that will be added to new consignments.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Description | The name of the cost, for example Freight, Duty, Travel or QC. |
| Default Net Value | The amount that will be added by default when a new consignment is created. This value can be changed if required. |
Default Costs Context Menu
The following options are available from the grid's context menu.
Apply Value Range
Apply Value Range allows you to apply the same value to multiple selected rows within the current column.
This can be useful when updating several default cost records at the same time.
Clear Selection
Clear Selection removes the current selection from the grid.
Use this option when you want to deselect one or more highlighted records before continuing with other changes.
