How To: Block Update the Customer Mailing Flag
Block Change is an Advanced User feature that allows you to update the same setting across multiple customer records at once.
You can use this feature to apply a Mailing Flag to a group of customers, helping you manage marketing preferences and data protection settings efficiently.
Before using this feature, ensure the required Mailing Flag has been created in [ System Data | Data Protection ].
Prerequisites
- The required Mailing Flag must already exist in [ System Data | Data Protection ].
- You must have access to the Block Change feature.
Apply a Mailing Flag to Multiple Customers
- Open a Customer screen (show me how).
- In the customer list grid, locate and green-select all customers you want to update.
- Open the Block Change function using one of the following methods:
- Press F9 to open the Other Actions menu, or click the drop-down arrow immediately to the right of the green circle with a white cross icon on the toolbar. Then select Block Change Selected Items.
or- Click the Block Change button on the toolbar.
- The Update Selected Items Dialog will open.
- From the Mailing Flag drop-down list, select the flag you want to apply to the selected customers.
- Change the traffic light next to the Mailing Flag option from red to green to enable the update.
- Review the selected option and make any additional changes required.
- Click OK.
- When the confirmation message appears, click Yes to apply the changes.
Note: Additional confirmation or information messages may appear depending on the changes being made.
Additional Information
Understanding Traffic Lights
Within the Update Selected Items Dialog, only options with a green traffic light will be updated.
- Red = Do not update this field
- Green = Update this field for all selected records
Updating Multiple Customers
Block Change applies the selected Mailing Flag to every customer record that has been green-selected in the customer list.
To avoid unintended updates, review your selected records carefully before confirming the change.
Tips
- Confirm that the correct Mailing Flag has been configured in [ System Data | Data Protection ] before starting.
- Double-check your customer selection before applying the update.
- Only switch the traffic light to green for fields you intend to update.
