How To: Copy Email Templates

Advanced User FeatureCreating and editing Email Templates is an advanced feature and should only be performed by users familiar with the Email Manager.
Email Message Templates are used throughout Khaos Control for both manual and automatic email generation. Duplicating an existing template is often the quickest way to create a new template while retaining the layout, wording and configuration of an existing one.
Duplicate an Email Template
- Open the Email Manager screen (show me how).
- Select the Message Templates radio button to display the existing email templates.
- Double-click the template you want to copy.
- Open the Other Actions menu by:
- Pressing F9, or
- Clicking the down arrow next to the green circle with a white cross icon.
- Select: Duplicate Email Template...
- Enter:
- A new Email Template Code
- A new Description
- Click OK.
- The duplicated template will open automatically and can be edited as required.
Result
A new email template will be created using the content and configuration of the original template, allowing you to make changes without affecting the existing template.
Notes
Note: Embedded images are not copied when a template is duplicated.
Note: Additional Attachments are not copied when a template is duplicated.
Note: An Email Template cannot be duplicated while it is in edit mode. Save or exit edit mode before attempting to create a copy.
Tips
- Use duplicate templates when creating branded variations of existing emails.
- Update the template code and description to clearly identify the template's purpose.
- After duplicating a template, review any links, attachments and images to ensure they are still appropriate for the new template.
- If the original template uses embedded images, these will need to be re-added manually to the new template.
