Harmonisation Codes
Introduction
Harmonisation Codes are an internationally recognised system used to classify goods for import and export purposes.
Within Khaos Control, Harmonisation Codes can be assigned to stock types and individual stock items to help support international shipping, customs documentation and courier integrations.
Before a Harmonisation Code can be assigned to a stock type or stock item, it must first be created in [ System Data | Harmonisation Codes ].
Once configured, Harmonisation Codes can be:
- Assigned to Level 2 Stock Types in the Harmonisation Codes - Stock Types grid.
- Assigned directly to stock items from the [ Stock | Detail | Accounting ] tab.

The Harmonisation Codes grid contains the codes available for use when importing and exporting goods.

| Description | A description of the Harmonisation Code. | |
| Country | The country associated with the Harmonisation Code. Countries are maintained in the [ System Data | Countries ] screen. |
| Default | Determines whether the code can be used as the default Harmonisation Code for all countries. | |
| Zone | The geographical zone associated with the Harmonisation Code. |
Country
The Country field allows a Harmonisation Code to be linked to a specific destination country.
This ensures the correct code is used when shipping goods to that country.
Default
The Default checkbox controls whether a Harmonisation Code can act as a fallback code.
Ticked
When selected, the Harmonisation Code can be used for all countries, even if it has only been configured against a single country or zone.
This can simplify setup where the same code applies across multiple destinations.
Unticked
A separate Harmonisation Code must be configured for each country or zone where goods are shipped.
Zone
The Zone field allows a Harmonisation Code to be associated with a geographical zone rather than an individual country.
Zones can be useful when the same code applies to multiple countries within a region.
Important Notes
- Country and Zone are mutually exclusive. You must enter either a Country or a Zone, not both.
- To remove a Country or Zone, enter edit mode, select the value and press Backspace.

The Harmonisation Codes grid includes the following right-click options:

| Clear Selection | Removes the current selection from the grid. |
Harmonisation Codes - Stock Types
The Harmonisation Codes - Stock Types grid allows Harmonisation Codes to be linked to Level 2 Stock Types.
This provides a default Harmonisation Code for all stock items within that stock category.

Using Stock Type mappings can significantly reduce maintenance, as stock items can inherit their Harmonisation Code from the stock type configuration.

Additional Information
- Harmonisation Codes are required for many international shipping and customs processes.
