How To: Create a New Sales Order

A Sales Order records the products or services a customer wishes to purchase and forms the basis for order processing, invoicing and fulfilment.
This article explains how to create a new Sales Order, add stock items and record payment details.

Create a New Sales Order

  1. Open a Sales Order screen (show me how).
  2. Press Ctrl+N or click New Sales Order.
  3. Use the available filters to locate the required customer.
  4. Double-click the customer to create the Sales Order.

Add Stock Items

  1. Press F3 or click Add Item.
  2. Locate the stock item you want to add.
    Note: If your search would return more than 15,000 stock items, Khaos Control displays a warning message.
    • Clicking Yes loads all matching items, although this may take some time.
    • Clicking No keeps the previously applied filters in place.
  3. Double-click the stock item to add it to the Sales Order.
    Tip: If you already know the stock codes, you can use Quick Stock Entry to add items more quickly.
  4. Update the Qty field if required.
    Note: Stock items are normally added with a default quantity of 1.
  5. Repeat these steps until all required items have been added to the order.

Enter Payment Details

  1. Enter the appropriate payment details.
    Tip: Alternative payment entry methods are also available:

Save the Sales Order

  1. Press Ctrl+S or click Save.

Result

The Sales Order is now saved and ready for processing through your normal sales and fulfilment workflow.

Tips

  • Use stock filters to quickly locate products when working with large catalogues.
  • Review quantities, pricing and payment details before saving the order.
  • Consider using Quick Stock Entry if you regularly enter orders using known stock codes.
  • Record payment details before saving to ensure the order is ready for processing immediately.
